Patty and I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am this morning. It is unfortunate that there was less than a handful of us just ordinary folks on hand for the opening. Who was there? All five North Port Commissioners, one Sarasota County Commissioner, District Engineer, Chairman of the WVID Board of Supervisors, the contractors for road construction and landscaping and a few staff members from these various organizations. I'm hoping that we will at least get some mention in the local press after the fact.
The speeches were inspiring. All about growth, progress, the beginning of a new 6 mile North/South route from Englewood, and the completion of a segment of the road that our County Commissioner described as one of her most beautiful roads to drive on in South County and North Port. Remarks made at the ceremony also indicated that the hospital extension of the Parkway should be open in a few more months, and that construction on the River Rd. / Hwy 41 intersection improvements should start sometime next year, hopefully.
What ever. Its now open for traffic and if you're going North on River Rd. it will take a few miles off of your trip to the interstate.

I have been driving on the new parkway home from work and I am the only one out there! I think I have my own road now! :)
Outstanding and congratulations! I think everyone should have their own million dollar private road. We in IW should get our own road in about a year or so when DiVosta opens up the side entrance to IW that will connect to the South end of your private road. We can meet at Hwy 41 some day. What a great place to live!
