Rather longish regular meeting followed by the annual Land Owners Meeting. District Manager presented the proposed 2011/2012 TRIM budget for non ad-valorem district tax assessments. It showed slight increases from last years taxes, in part due to the uncertainty of last year's tax revenue from the large land owners in the district. Not all tax certificates have sold and the amount of possible revenue still to be received from last years tax assessments is not known at this time. August 30th was set as the date for the official Public Meeting that will finalize this budget for submittal to the Sarasota Tax Collector's office.
I'm happy. The supervisors approved, in principle, my request to have the district erect neighborhood watch signs on district roadways and to provide some limited direct financial assistance towards outfitting individual watch volunteers with logo'd clothing items and magnetic watch signs to use on their vehicles when patrol district streets. Hopefully all the little details can be worked out with WVID staff over the next few weeks, and actual expenditures can be presented to the board for approval at the next meeting.
A number of routine business items were discussed and decided during the meeting. Supervisor Matthews was recognized for his long and dedicated service to the WVID. He was initially elected way back in 2004 as one of the first Board of Supervisors. I did not stay for the Land Owners Meeting, so I don't know who was "elected" to replace Mr. Matthews.

Thanks for the update. I guess the amount of new construction here in IW will not go unnoticed by the commercial developers that may be eyeing the 4th Quarter land parcels
Hi Mike. I think something will happen in Gran Paradiso first, probably this year. Property has to go two years without tax payments before a tax deed sale can happen. 4QP may well be next years big news?
