Another month come and gone. The bond holders and trustee declined to even have a meeting with WVID about the Gran Paradiso amenities center remaining work. They restated their objections to spending any additional money and said a meeting wouldn't change anything! Our board considered a request from staff to look into some scope of work that would be less than the full completion of the project, and might include just enough work to get the building and some of the rooms open for use. Discussion did not include doing work on any of the exterior amenities like tennis courts, pool(s), etc. The District Engineer stated that about $1 million might get the center open whereas a little over $3 million was needed to finish the entire planned project. Staff will once again approach our bond holders and trustee with this partial completion proposal. Sam Rogers was at the meeting, he supported this action; but also clearly stated that his preference would be for the full completion of the center... stating that those outside amenities were just as important as the building interior.
Guess we wait until next meeting for some answers.
