I checked the county property records this morning to see just how many resident homeowners might be in the WVID. Results would indicate it will be years before we get to the 500 freeholders required to consider a referendum question for an elected WVID supervisor.
329 Homes having private ownership
180 Homes that are NOT homesteaded
19 Homes with other than homesteaded exemptions
130 Homes that are homesteaded properties
Assuming husband and wife or other legal 2 person ownership per homestead property, that only gives an estimated 260 qualified freeholders currently owning property within the district. We would need a minimum of 500 to attempt a referendum question on the ballot.
